When I bought my 270, the previous owner had replaced my fridge with a 110 only unit.. can I buy a 12v inverter and wire it in to the fridge so I can have a fridge while running on the river without firing up the genny? Has anybody done this, it is not a fridge with a compressor so it shouldn't have a huge amp draw.

Yes you can do this, it works. The only thing is to purchase the right inverter that will provide the correct amps required. Check the fridge it should state what it draws in amps. Also the better inverters have a small cooling fan to keep it cool and safe. Also a good option is to get a battery buddy to assure you don't drain down the battery. Solar panels are also great since they will replace some of the drawn power.

Yes an inverter would work, but not the most efficient way to run a refrigerator. Most inverters are 80% efficient at best.

.....and refrigerators are power hogs.
