I have a 2004 Sundancer 280. THe fresh water tank is insulated. How do you know the water level in the tank without having it completely full or completely empty? I want to do an overnight trip next week and really don't want to fill it if I don't need to. I'm trying to get it low before winterization is required. ( sorry to mention winter)

There really needs to be a sight tube or something similar.

Filler up and go on your trip. When you are done you can open a tap and pump what you have left out prior to winter.

I could be wrong, but I don't recall Sea Ray putting on insulation. Have you had the boat since new, or is this possibly something that a previous owner did?

Personally, I'd rip it off. Short of doing that, cut a thin, vertical section off (a few inches wide) from bottom to top. Use a good quality, clear tape to keep it from coming off entirely (just two or three strips is probably all that is needed). Or, leave a few places where you don't cut the insulation (basically, making a sight window).
