Think I may have fried my fresh water pump. Wanted to run through my fresh water tank a few times and all of a sudden it stopped working. It was warm (maybe hot?) from running for an hour or so straight.

When I turn the breaker back on at the panel I see zero draw.

I let it sit for a few hours and still nothing. Safe to assume I need to get a new pump?

@SeaNile, not necessarily. I assume it’s still running (if it’s getting hot). There is a clear plastic filter (in your picture, it’s on the bottom). Pull it apart and see if it’s plugged up with gunk. This happened to me when I first bought my current boat.

It’s not running at all. Zero, nada, doesn’t even draw any power at all when I turn the breaker on. But, since I’m here I’m going to give it a shot.

I don’t understand how it’s warm (or hot) if it’s not running, but if that’s the case, then I’d say yep… it’s cooked.

It was warm/hot after running for an hour straight! Filter is clear and still nothing.

I pulled the pump and will stop at West Marine in the AM.

I've had this happen during winterizing.

In my case, the pump had reached the end of its life brought on by the increased demand.

Turn power off take a ohm reading across the pressure switch see if it is contacts are closed/ have continuity as they should be. Then take the two leads going to the pump motor and see if you have a resistance reading of the winding in the motor. If you don't see any resistance the windings are open and the pump is shot.

Most pumps have a label saying do not run continuously. They are designed for intermittent operation only.
It has overheated and failed.

Had this same thing happen to me when dewinterizing. Turns out the screens in the faucet got plugged with debris. Check all your screens at the faucets as well as the pump.

When I flush or clean water tank, I only run it for about 10 minutes, shut down for about 5 and repeat.

I do the same. Takes a bit longer...but I figured it can't be good for the pump to run nonstop for the full fresh water tank...
