I thought I'd share some pics of a simple repair...

Out of the blue, my fresh water pump started making more noise and providing about half the pressure. It also continued to run for several seconds after closing the faucet, which was unusual. It's a Shurflo 2.8gpm, part 2088-423-244, manufactured in 1996.

I checked the forums here and headed to the boat to troubleshoot. Fresh water holding tank was full, so the next thing was to check for a clogged filter screen or clogged elbow fitting.

I found that the metal filter screen on the intake side of the pump was completely clogged with black junk. I removed that screen, cleaned it off, and reinstalled it.

Pump works fine again. Hope this helps the next guy or gal!

Yep common problem with those. the Pink antifreez gunks 'em up real bad also. always generates posts in the Spring.

yea, I was messing with my boat today 91 220da, and i turned the pump on to fill the sink and the water pressure was just not there, it was mainly just blowing air.. I looked at the filter and noticed it was broke on a few of the tabs around it and was just sucking in air and dripping water there. I have looked on the internet and can't seem to find that filter housing you have pictured?? (identical to yours) can anyone point me in the direction to get one? thanks a lot

nevermind.. just found it on jcwhitney and ordered it. 12 bucks with free shipping thanks to a promo code!!

I'd superchlorinate and flush that tank well...that microbial slime ain't a good thing in your water tank- hope you're not drinking it.
