Fresh Water Accumalator

I still cant get over the size of that. Here is a pic of mine.... it's that little bubble over the pump

Found the time to install the tank today. Came off of the FW pump with a 1/2” SS Flexible 20” hose like you might use under a sink and attached that to one side of the “T” on the tank. Cut the female end off of the hose that connected to the outfeed side of the pump and installed a 1/2” male PEX fitting. Used another 20”. S Flexible hose from the male to the other side of the “T” at the tank and done. The “T” at the tank is composed of 1/2” CPVC male adapter fittings and a “T”. With the recommended 42psi, the system works like a dream now. For easy access, the tank is mounted to the plywood “floor” that my washer/dryer sits on. When I raise the steps to the galley, there it is. it is amazing how long a faucet can run before the FW pumps kicks on.

Update: I really do not understand why, but this add on has also increased my water pressure on the boat when on dock water. It was good, now it is fantastic!

Thanks for all recommendations.

I had to replace my water pump on my 2007 last year. It was the original Shurflo Variable speed unit and I couldn't find a direct replacement at the time so went with a standard pump. Took it out after 1 day as the pulsating drove me nuts. Looked into installing a accumulator tank but decided against it. Found a supplier with another variable speed pump (Jabsco) and took the other one back. Nice smooth water again at even when just slightly opening the faucet. I think the variable speed pump is the way to go as the accumulator tank doesn't get rid of the noise when the pump does come on at full speed every time it needs to build pressure again. My 2cents.

Thinking about installing one of these. However not sure i need to go that big or do I? All i want is for the FWP to not cycle on everytime somone opens a faucet? Blueone any feedback on the one you install?

I have one on order like Blueone has. I bought it for my camper, but I plan on putting one on the boat eventually.

I think the main purpose of mine is to give you instant pressure and eliminate banging... it's not big enough to wash your hands with out the pump coming on...that would have to be huge.
I also have a bigger pump then original ..that has higher GPM and Pressure...that makes a big difference too as to how long the pump runs...if you flush a toilet for example it's only on for a couple seconds... due to the accumulator and pump speed

I just ordered one too. I realize the my pump is cycling on and off just as described in here when one faucet is open. I ordered the tank that bbwhitejr posted (Thanks for that by the way! The Jabsco tank that is 1 or 2 gallon is listed at over $200!).
Dean, get the same one. Only 2 left on Amazon.......:)

Too late, I decided to order it. One for the boat, and one for the camper.
The camper is the one that really needs it most. I'll put the 2 gallon one in it, and the other in the boat.

I added the 2 gallon accumulator and it seems to help with the pump coming on constantly when using a fixture.

I guess they had more than two left ;)

They probably do that to get people to order right then, and not think about it.

Would you have a pic of this setup?

I thought I did, but maybe not. I will be at the boat on Thursday and can post then.

Thanks, interested in the location and the fittings you used, particularly the "T"

The “T” is made from 1/2” CPVC fittings. 3-1/2” steel male adapters, a “T,” and 3-very short pieces of CPVC pipe. One steel braided hose runs from the outfeed fitting on the pump to one side of the “T.” The other braided hose runs from the other side of the “T” to the hose that was on the outfeed side of the pump and is connected with a double-ended male threaded coupling. I put the tank in front of the washer so it is easy to get to. The air pressure charge in the tank needs to be checked from time to time and this is easy to get to. It is in the way of nothing....easiest install on a boat I have ever done. Pics are tough because the area is somewhat cramped. I still have some hoses to tie down as well.

Looks easy enough and i like that location. Thanks!

So i installed the accumulator tank this weekend, similar as described above and set the psi to 42. Can't say i'm very impressed as it only gave me a little bit of time when opening a faucet before the pump kicks in. I want to say it kicks in about 7 seconds of opening a faucet and every time we flush one of the toilets. Is this expected?
