Arrived late Friday around 8:15pm. Had just enough time to do laps around the harbor and Betsie lake. The fish were running the lake pretty heavy so we combat fished and were rewarded with a fiesty 14lb king and lost one.

For Saturday morning and Saturday evening, here was the general program. Big kings are deep, nice cohos are in the top 40 ft. Wire and braided dipseys back 65, 80 and 100 and riggers. We landed 3 kings over 20 lbs the rest were in the 12-17# range. The biggest coho was 10#. The rest were 6-9lbers. We also landed and released a 14# chubby lake trout. These are the fattest fish I can ever remember.

I ran a 5 rod spread all weekend and had constant action. I had a wire dipsey on one side and a braided dipsey on the other and they performed equally. Riggers were staggered depending on water depth. We caught fish in 40fow and out to 150fow. They are all over.

Here are a few pics to tell the story. Enjoy!

Took time to anchor up and do shore lunch yesterday along the sleeping bear sand dunes. One of the highlights of the trip. Having shore lunch in "Voted #1 most beautiful place in America"!

A simple spread. No tangles, no issues and steady action.

I sure wished I had a better camera when this freighter came in line with the sunset.

That sounds like fun Glenn! How long do you keep the rig in the water? I'm gonna fish this boat till the snow flies this year.

Hopefully the perch light up in the Bay this fall.

I hear they are getting some now.Probably end of sept.we will go in storage.

Yeah, I hear the north end of the black hole has been good. I'll try to get out there after Labor Day. Gotta get this salmon thing out of my system....

Maybe if you feel like heading out after Sept, I'll give you a shout. My boat stays in my heated barn so I can fish until the ice starts (in between deer hunting)...

We were in Frankfort at the end of July. Many fish were committing suicide. There is a big Cabo that fishes from that port and he was reporting 40+ hits and was boating 20+ big fish or more per day.

Sounds like fun getaway you have my #,We will be on vacation again saturday the 3rd through the 11th mabey on the boat but not definite yet.
