Four Suns Chapter 2 - Thanks Sea Ray..

Jeez, whered all these old farts come from?:grin:

Great post. I grew up on Lake Ontario and now live in FL on the St. Johns river, and in all of my short 28 years Ive been blessed with the family and friends with boats. Now that Ive had two of my own, its something Ill never get out of my blood, and some of my best memories.

Gary, thanks for probably the finest post on this forum. It speaks to why all of us are boaters, to share, grow, and bond with our loved ones. Thank you, and thanks to Sea Ray and all the great Club Sea Ray members who will do anything to assist a fellow boater.

Be careful.......these old farts are the same ones who have broken and fixed everything on enough boats so that you have a place to come to get answers so you can take your kids out on your boat this weekend instead of standing on your head in the bilge trying to figure it out for yourself.

I'm VERY thankful for the old farts! Thanks for all you guys do for us!!

Great post and agree, we only have the on child, I flew back in from China tonight, and my 'Baby' picked me up at the airport in my car.

She is 17 now. I don't know where that time went

Great post. It's true the time does fly, we have one that will be driving soon, and then college... Then two more right behind.

Grandkids on a Marlow, I like that plan.

You guys are lightweights, I'm waiting for the 14 year old grandchild to get pregnant she acts like she's 19 and is now a freshman cheerleader , I don't want that to happen but when your a grand parent you don't have any control of it they just think your an insane Old Fart

Gary, you are blessed.... I wish I could have enjoyed these type of memories with my kids. To those of you out with kids and those of us grand kids now... It you don't realize it, please take moment to ponder it, life is fleeting and this ain't a dress rehearsal.

RE: Old farts.

It is funny, back when we were part of the original Sea Ray forum, many of us were new parents, or about to become parents. A lot of us have grown to old fart status together over the years. Just like one big dysfunctional family! ;)

Wasnt part of it then, but gee I can appreciate it! I look at my daughter now and have just had a 17 year old pleading with me 'but Daddy' every argument I put up 'But Daddy' she was after $20 to buy a birthday present.....yes I gave in

I also remember the first time we fuelled the Sea Ray and she saw the Bowser go ove a $1000 and that look, 'so you can't buy me a car because.?'!

And the reason why I am presently not driving a car of my choice, so she has use of it!

LOL, ain't that the truth:) Never ceases to amaze me, why in Western cultures it seems often the norm, to lose respect for ones elders (untiil they need something). Unlike Eastern cultures where elders are more often revered. The number of parents and grand-parents murdered here by their children is just frightening, although I know in FL it's more often than not drug related, it's just awful.

I too am VERY thankful for all the "old farts", even though I'm closer to that than young.

As to Gary's original post, once you get past the silly superficial things all that is left is the real life of shared experiences of family and friends. That is why I got into boating, even though I had no exposure boating and did not swim, I wanted the experience of boating.

My experiencees in boating have been wonderful even when things went wrong because I found CSR for everything from advice to comfort and an honest, reputable, and knowledgeable marine service provider.

Cheers to all of you<

Thanks Gary for the awesome post.
If you thought the kids were fun wait till the grand kids come along. It doesn't matter the size or age of the boat, they will think you are Neptune for taking them out. The kids and grand kids share the same stories of the boat, all the good, bad and the ugly. Especially my grandson who we use for depth finding and docking maneuvers. LOL

Hey Gary....didnt you have a blog for a while? Do you still maintain it? Do you have a link?

Great pics from everyone and thanks Gary for sharing. Is it that we want to make our kids and grandkids happy when we go boating or is it just a reason to let us have our big boys and girl toys? Who cares as long as we're all together on the same canoe. LOL. In this size really doesn't matter it's how you use it that counts.

Gary, that was a great post to read through, thanks for sharing it with us.

I'm one who grew up in a boatless family with a cottage on Lake Huron, but I talked my parents into a rowboat when I was five. I got a motor for it when I was 7, then went to a sailboat when I was 11. I left home at 15 and was boatless for almost 30 years before I got the bug again. Like yours, my kids were brought up on my boats. They're all grown and gone now and we're starting to have grand kids on the boat with us, so we're starting our Chapter 2 and looking forward to many more years of memories.

Here's our first granddaughter, Addisyn on the boat at 3 months old....

and our first grandson, Miles, on the boat at 14 months. He's now 3 and loves to take the helm while on my lap.

Bill, Good to see you haven't changed your mind in the last 3 months... LOL
