Found this while buffing

Sea Ray S24. full delta enclosure. Towed by 2007 Chevy 3500 duramax/allison combo.

350 with closed fresh water cooling
Found some cracks in the gelgoat. This is about a foot above water line. I have another right at about the waterline

Yep. Look well enough and you will find those on virtually every boat. Its often the sign of a previous significant impact. The gel coat eventually cracks in places the boat flexes. Fiberglass can flex further before it will crack. Look behind it for damage, but I doubt you will find any.
 
Yup. I have one of those just above the rub rail at an impact point (ss insert is marred and plastic rubrail is broken up on its underside). I thought about getting it repaired but decided to leave it alone. I felt its presence was a better deal than taking risk on a crappy repair job. Especially since no one else knows its there but me.
 
Yep - I've got at least one that I know of on my 185. On an older boat especially, the repair is going to look worse than the damage.
