I know there are posts on this topic but I am hoping someone can give me an idea here.. my forward sump was/is not working correctly. I thought the problem was the float switch, as I would pull out the Rule800 with the float switch activated, put it back in and it would turn on. I would jiggle all of the wires, move them back and forth, and nothing, until I pulled the pump up a few inches, and snapped it back into place.
Today, I replaced the seperate float switch, and it worked for a bit, but....same problem. Pump will not turn on except sporadically, and usually I have to pull it out and put it back in. No wiggling of wires will do this, just the physical act of taking it out and putting it in.
My next step was to replace the Rule800 with the same, but I wanted to know: is this what bilge pumps do when they fail. Why is it turning on only when I take it out and put it back in? is there anything else that makes the connection besides the float switch?
