Is it just me or has the forum width shrunk? I'm not getting the full width on my screen (1280 x 800) any more. Looks like the forum is now only taking about 2/3rd of the screen width when I go with a full screen window? :huh: MS Internet Explorer is full width, but forum screen is not?

PS: I like the new CSR header logo. Is that a 240SD out in the bay? :grin:

For some reason I missed the new message. It may have to do with not being able to search for active topic only display since last log on. If I close the window by mistake and log off before seeing all the active topics I loss them sometime :smt089

One point if you use the www.clubsearay.com address you get errors on the page like not having the menu options below the logo banner. I did not notice until i used the www.byowneryachts.com address in your link?

I looked at the message, but don't see any eplanation of why one would want to throw away the usable display space on each side of the screen. This does not seem like an improvement to me to have page space taken up by vertical color stripes on each side of the page. I assume they are not clickly, I tried dragging the edges out the the display edge, but that did not owrk.

Try a wrench Dave :wink: :wink:

No I think you have a point and I think Jim read also these posts....

Not complaining, but I have to agree with Dave M. The new borders are pretty, but not worth the real estate they occupy, IMHO.

Can they be made optional?

It appears to me that there are two issues here.

First, the question of whether or not it is worth giving up real estate for pretty borders on the sides. That is a management decision.

Second issue, it does not fit the screen width anymore, when using the byowerneryachts link into the site. For a 1024 width, it is too narrow. And I tried it on my wifes old Windows 98 machine, with 800x600 display, and it is too wide. You always have to scroll sideways.

I copied the whole page into my computer and took a look at it, and poked at it. I found this, beginning on line 286:

.main_1
{ width: 781px; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; border-left: 1px solid #ECF1F8; border-right:
1px solid #ECF1F8; border-bottom: 1px solid #ECF1F8; background-color: #596693; }

.main_2
{ width: 100%; background-image:url(http://www.byowneryachts.com/subdreamer/skins/advanced_2/
images/adv_background_2.jpg); background-repeat:repeat-x; background-position: top; background-color: #CCD4E3; border: 1px solid #596693; border-top: 0px; padding: 0px 9px 7px 9px; }

etc.....

I have no idea why the width of main_1 is hard coded, but I changed it to 100% and saved it back. Then I opened it in Firefox, and the width expanded to fill the available space as it should. I tried it in Konqueror too, same good result.

THe 781 number seems to prevent autoscaling of the width unless there is some other item that needs more width. Then the width will expand to accomodate that.

Yessss!!!

It is wide<------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

OK, how come this topic is full screen width? :smt017

Guys lets be understanding, that Jim is working on the new format. I am sure there are several bugs that he is trying to work out. By the way Jim thanks for everything you are doing especially the new view post from day. :thumbsup: I am sure Jim will tell us when he is done with the conversion and then we can start the criticizing. :lol:
