Went on a vacation, spent a couple nights in Fort L, went on a 7 day cruise and finished with 3 more nights in Fort L gosh it was awesome, it rained quite a bit, but the boats everywhere were beautiful. We stayed at the Marina Hilton on 17th was able to do some running and check out some of the boats also the last pic is of a bunch of young women who took over our hotel pool, ended up being the USA women national soccer team. Had a great time, looking forward to going back
Yeah. I like that hotel. Wife grew up there and we stayed there in the past. I like to sit under the 17th Causway and watch the boats go by.
I Always try to stay in the tower, waterside. you can watch the icw, inlet, and marina across the icw. Many of afternoons on a balcony with a cigar and scotch.
The 400DA I bought fifteen years ago was slipped there in the canal between 15th and 16th streets. We were having dinner at Southport Raw Rar at the end of the canal reminiscing about looking at and buying the boat a couple of weeks ago at FLIBS. Also there is a restaurant right at that loop over to 16th in your map called the Boatyard that is excellent.
Those are some of the places we ate at! Loved the raw bar, went there twice! had a great meal at the boat yard, had Sunday brunch there iirc alson enjoyed the 15th street fishery, great fried cheesecake dessert Another place we liked was Kelly’s landing here is a pic of the dessert (15st) and a burger I got from the boat yard
Surprised the US women's soccer team wasn't "virtue signaling"....the latest term to describe LGBTQ++++ sensitivity.
Listen, vacationing is nothing like living there. I grew up in Myami. Moved to Ft Lauderdale when I bought my first house. 20 years ago I moved to Chicago ( hold laughter) and lived in Barrington for those 20. Moved back to Treasure Coast 2 years ago. South Florida is overrun by Latin Americans. Miami, we’ll let’s just say English is the 3rd language. The traffic is as bad or worse than downtown Chicago. Most people in Florida are from somewhere else so there is no traditional American culture like you find in the Midwest. If you don’t like seafood, I’m sick of it having grown up fishing, diving for my own lobster, grouper and dolphin, you’re shit out of luck finding plenty of good restaurants. Cuban food…. I prefer home cooked because those restaurants have had to alter their menus to accommodate every Latin American country and Caribbean cuisine. Yes, the water is beautiful, downtown is exciting, the babes all wear thongs and have great asses. But it’s no longer Florida, nor America.
Going back a long ways in time... Was sitting on the balcony at the Hilton we are discussing. Watching boats go by, thinking, that looks alot like a L650. Sent a text to @Capt. Rusty Higgins , yes it was him returning a boat from the Bahamas....
