I'm looking for suggestions for Seattle eating places and a couple of places one MUST see. We and another couple will be in there in Sept for the OU/ Washington game for a day or two.

( and seeing what other teams we can steal while we are there )

Let's keep in touch. I'll see if I can get tickets and we'll go to the game by boat + and show you an eatery or two.

Wait a minute? I thought they were playing Washington State? GO COUGS!! We don't stand a chance and will hope the Cougs can pull a Boise State against them. Frankly, I'm hoping the Cougs can stay within 4 touchdowns!

Lots of places to eat across the street, around the corner, Ivars at the stadium and waterfront, Anthony's on the waterfront and a whole bunch of other places off the beaten track towards downtown. If you are staying near the stadium there are many choices. If you are staying at a hotel somewhere else, then that complicates things somewhat! Todd will take care of you!

The list could be HUGE! Depends on what you're interested in, how much time you have and how mobile you are.

This used to be the jet city, so there is the Boeing plant in Everett and several good air museums.

There's the Space Needle if you're into touristy things.

Pioneer Square is the old section... there's an underground tour with some good history.

Mountains are everywhere if you're into climbing, hiking or even camping.

If you like weird buildings, there's the EMP, Experience Music Project.

There should even be plenty of panhandlers...

And I suppose most importantly, there's water everywhere and the San Juan Islands are a nice place to visit for a couple days... If I'm traveling by ferry, I prefer Orcas Island.

Feel free to PM me if you wish.

sundancer... don't even start on the poor mouth, stay within 4 touchdowns stuff...after Boise, Colorado, and West Virginia.. :smt101

I'm not sure where we are staying yet (the other couple is going to handle those arrangements.. but they may need suggestions too)

Todd the boat ride in sounds kewl. How far is the walk then into the stadium?

It's right there. It's a huge tradition to go by boat.

We went to a Mariners game back in 1996 and ate at FX McRorys best horseradish I have ever had and the prime rib was not bad either. The wall of bourbon was pretty impressive to.
Near the sports complexes also.

I work 2 blocks from there in the Pioneer Square district of Seattle.

OK, hold the phone here guys! You are getting your teams mixed up! First of all it's the Washington STATE University COUGARS at QWEST field not the University of Washington Huskies at their stadium! It doesn't change things that much since Qwest field is right on the waterfront near Pike Place and where the ferry terminals are.

Now, the OSU guys are relieved because they are playing a Pac-10 doormat!

Go Cougs!

If you like pizza, I found a place after looking since 1990... I'm a NY'er and finally found the golden grail for pizza out here...

Belltown Pizza on 1st and Wall St w/i walking distance to the Space Needle...

The pizza to order is the "Rays favorite" but I add peperoni... really ICE cold tap beer too.

Ivars for seafood on the water...

Well, anyway, it sucks but let me know your plans and we'll work out some cool stuff to do.

Jim is a Badger and a Cardinal (the color)! But after a couple decades of living around Seattle and having too many girlfriends that are always wanting to be at the new "it" place, I've seen a bit of this town. But now that I think of it... I did have a couple of professors from the wrong UW come in and teach a class of theirs for a quarter... so that may make me part Husky!

I've spent some time in Tulsa, so if it were me, I'd stay away from the beef in Seattle, it will probably disappoint you. Being the gateway to the Orient, you'll find there's a lot more variety to Asian Cuisine than just take out Chinese. If you've ever wanted to find out the difference between Korean, Vietnamese, Malay cuisine, it's very easy here... just as there's all standard great Thai, Japanese and every region of China.

In my opinion, our Italian food is only so-so. There are some good places, but I prefer the stuff I get back in Chicago and Milwaukee. I'd pass on it here and try other stuff.

You'll find a lot of flying fish here (okay, it gets flown in from Alaska). But I'll have to say, my favorite is to just go to Costco and pick up some Halibut and throw it on a grill.

If you want to spend a fortune, we have a lot of great little places. Some will take reservations (you'll need to make them a couple weeks in advance!). If eating is an event, there's a place called the Herb Farm where you'll spend a good amount of time eating a lot of courses... and no, it's not cheap.

If you are on the run, looking for a burger (which won't be as flavorful as the beef in Tulsa) we have a couple drive-ins... Dick's and Burgermaster... both have their followings.
