I decided after 8 years it was time to upgrade tow vehicles. I wanted Mr. Cummins again (in fact that is what I thought I would end up with). I spent 2 months test driving, reading, test driving, reading, crawing underneath, and talking with folks on the respective big 3 diesel msg boards... and at the end of the day...... the cummins is a hell of a motor but I just thought that Dodge produced a very out of date looking truck around a fine motor...... and I was leary of the new Dodge 6 Speed Auto.... the 48RE and 47RE were not exactly success stories (48RE not bad..... but not great). The Ford 6.4 seems to be following in the footsteps of the 6.0...... enough said there. The Dmax/Allison combo has several years under it's belt and seemed to be handling the new diesel emissions stuff without issues..... and the redesigned GMC looks AWESOME inside and out.. the Chevy is just ugly outside. So I bought a new GMC. I have tossed 6,500 + on the clock since October and could not be happier.... 365P and 660lb ft of torque is pretty amazing..... pulls the boat really well. BTW the emissions stuff is a non-issue... zero soot, zero diesel smell.... just awesome... no more soot on the boat.

They all have their issues! I wish I could get a Cummins engine attached to an Allison transmission in a Ford or Dodge Megacab chassis(with a long bed if they had one!). The Duramax Allison is a great combination, but the interiors are a little small compared to the others.

The Ford and GM interiors (in the crew cab) struck me as about the same size wise.... the Mega cab is huge.... and I mean huge.... but the ugly black frame below the rear seats and the smaller than short bed ...bed was too much when coupled with the horribly out of date interior. Certainly just my opinion.... as they make and sell different trucks for a reason... :)

Thanks Jeremy. Like sundancer said if all three trucks could be combined with the best features you would have a heck of a ride. I hope you enjoy your Duramax.
