Maybe its just me & I shouldn't expect too much, anyway here's the rant. At the Toronto boat show a few weeks ago there was 2 types of food available, one being a few Pizza Pizza stands dotted around the place & a section they call " Meditteranian food". first of all I don't do Pizza Pizza as its likely the worst around yet they always seem to muzzle into these events. The Meditteranian consisted of a compacted tiny bowl of rice & a tiny piece of meat & a pop for $15.00.

I know these vendors likely have to pay huge rent for the space & they only have a short time to make their money

Why don't the organizers of these shows make it a little easier on the food vendors & insist on a certain standard of food & pricing also providing a better variety. I don't care if the meal is $30.00.....as long as it's worth that.

At the Toronto auto show yesterday, 1 scrawny slice of Pizza & a can of pop $7.50. Personally I am fed up with it & have decided in the future to avoid shows & exhibitions. Its already a $20.00 grab to get in but it doesn't stop there. Maybe it's just Toronto, I don't know. Interested to hear about shows in your area

That's why I get pretty well lubed up before the show and just "maintain" during it. Same thing for ball games and such.

The selection at our boat show was about the same as going to a football game, but worse. The prices were the same as an NFL game though.

Thats why I dont drink at boat shows.......It might be a $450,000.00 beer and not 1 or 2 20 oz beers

The Long Island Boat Show (Lame) had the same food that was available at the NY Islander game I attended earlier that day upstairs in the Colesium. Basic overpriced concession crap. The kids liked it. I abstained.

Baltimore show is similar, hot dogs, burgers, beer and fries, ALL overpriced, but you can have as many beers as you can afford. I like the $450,000 beer comment. And the free beer with boat purchase.
I got a hat with my last vehicle purchase. A friend liked it and asked where I got it. I told him they are FREE! You get a cheap hat everytime you buy a $60,000+ truck.

I don't mind the prices as much as knowing I'm paying those prices for absolute junk food. I usually try to get a late breakfast at the hotel, then stick a few energy bars into my bag and nibble on those through the day. That gets me through until dinner, and it's healthier than the crap they serve at the shows.

Regarding the Toronto Boat Show, it sounds like you missed the "Montreal Smoked Meat" sandwich booth. Sandwich was around $11 and was served with a huge dill pickle - delicious. Later we found the "Tiki Bar" which they concealed in the middle of a bunch of large sail boats to have some drinks. Double rum/punch was $13 each, but delicious and the area was decked out as a real Tiki Bar. It even had a guy playing steel drums to island music, tables, chairs, umbrellas, etc. Why they would put this in the middle of a bunch of sail boats is beyond me - they aren't known to be big spenders!!

Attended the Detroit Boat Show. Food was horrible! My 8 year old twin boys wouldn't even eat the Chicken strips and fries. What a waste. Will know better next time.

Yea, but after the initial throbbing headache subsides you can enjoy the rest of the hang over.
