Looks like the guest dock at Clipper Yacht Harbor, we'll be there Mnday through Friday!

I have been following your travels. I hope your transit to OR goes well. On your blog you have a pic of a ship with the caption "ferry?" That is actually the TS Golden Bear docked at California Maritime Academy in Vallejo. I spent 4 years traveling the world on an older version (500 ft, 1939 converted bulk carrier) back in the 80's as an engineering cadet. Awesome times. My unlimited hp and tonnage license has long expired, and I have been out of the maritime world for 25 years but I am very greatful for the hands on education I received.

Tom and his wife Kay

what did they do ,drop anchor for the night?

I spoke with Tom an hour ago, he should have the range to make it easily to Astoria, and that was the plan. I would be surprised if he was headed for fuel.

Looks like he's just going into Newport now.

poor assumption on my part about fuel.
For those of you unfamiliar with where Tom and Kay stopped, Newport is the home of Rogue Brewery. t is my guess that they stopped for another type of "fill-up". Maybe they are getting a growler or two to celebrate when they reach home. Just a thought....:)

Looks like he will make the columbia before dark, thems gonna be some whipped puppies when they find a dock to collapse on.

hope they have enough left in them to make it through this forecast at the entrance to the Columbia

Late Afternoon: SSW wind around 21 kt. A chance of rain. WNW swell 6 ft at 12 seconds. Wind waves around 5 ft.

They are at the bar now. No restrictions and they are heading in for a well deserved rest. Waves were 6-8+ but 12 second period so it was not too bad but the winds are up there. +25kts... from the south...
