Well, I had my last bad :smt013 night of sleep on the 20 year old foam in the V-Berth. I am going to pull the fabric off and replace the useless foam that is there now. What do you folks recommend I replace it with and any good sources would be appreciated. Thanks all

Memory foam is much more comfortable and doesn't have to be super thick.

On the 07 - 320 dancers they come with memory foam. Brigdog - are you sure on your 300 you don't have memory foam in the mattress. When I asked the dealer said it was new for 07. Maybe you already have it. My 260 was like sleeping on plywood. So I added foam from Sealy that rolled up.

Skolbe, It's likely not. My boat is a 2006 model year bought new in September. I suppose I'll wait and see first. Thanks, Brian

So I assume you guys are not saying use all memory foam. So what combination and foam density is recommended?

When we owned the 320, and now with the 420, we used a memory foam mattress topper (around 60 bucks at Wal Mart) over the standard SR mattresses. What a difference. We like it so much we bought a memory foam topper for the mid cabin berth as well. The memory foam rolls up tightly and stores out of the way until needed. Well worth the cost.

foam

I just had a local mattress company make me a new mattress. It has regular foam with memory foam on top, and then a mattress cover sewn around it. If you are not limited to a certain thickness, I would go with four inches of foam and three inches of memory foam. It makes a huge difference.

Thought I would post what I learned from a local cushion guy. He recommended 1" of grade A firm foam on the bottom and 4" of Grade A medium foam over that. If memory foam was used reduce the 4" to 3" and install 2" of memory foam. The 1" on the bottom is to keep your hips from bottoming out on the plywood below.
