Many discussions for flushing the engine in saltwater. What about the A/C and Gen?

In my case I added tees and valves to the gen and A/C lines, but I don't envision doing this after each outing simply b/c of having to open the engine hatch, etc. My thinking was to do it once a month or so with salt-away or similar.

What are people's thoughts/experience on this?

Esteban,
ABYC mandates that anything designed for a marine application be salt water compatible. Now, this doesn't mean it won't need maintainance. If you have a closed cooled generator, then once a month will be more than adequate. Watching for leaks is more important IMHO.
On the HVAC, salt comes out of solution around 155 degF. I don't think your condenser coil where the salt water flows will ever see that temperature. Flushing it will extend the service life of the units. As most people don't flush and the machines still last years, it's up to you.

Thank you Pat. The gen is FWC, so that helps. I will do the salt-away flush every 4-6 weeks and I guess that will help. The valves were easy and cheap installs. No need to add a more complex system.
