Hi all,

The boat is a 2006 200 select, and I was wondering why the centre floor locker has a rubber bung to allow you to plug the drain. It kind of implies that the locker could be filled with water and used as some kind of live well, or even a ballast tank for weighting the boat down to get a better wake for wakeboarding.

But I'm not sure either of these are good ideas, ie having that amount of water sloshing about uncontrolled.

So why else would they give you a bung to block the drain?

To keep water from getting in if you have a bilge leak or forget the transom plug. :smt017

I have that in our 240 SD as well.. I had just figured as topknight suggested it was to keep water out rather than in.. I keep forgetting to ask the dealer. I had asked this on the SRO board and don't remember getting an answer either.

Fill with ice and use it as a cooler

The pipe/plug was put there to collect water and dirt and aggrevate us because it is always dirty and holding water! :smt017

Big ditto

Maybe its a ballast feature like they have on ski boats so you can fill it up with water.................or maybe it's so you can use it as a live well when you go fishing.

I thought of the livewell thing, but there's no way to properly contain the water in. I just have a piece of plywood covered in carpet with a finger hole through it and no gasket around it. I'd lost 3/4 of that water up into the cockpit, soaking my carpet before I even got out of sight of the marina. :smt001
