So does anyone have one of these Float-Tech PFD automatic jackets?

http://www.float-tech.com

I came across them via a little program I have called Wootalyzer (if you know what woot.com is you know what this is)

Anyways it basically shows you a buch of deal a day type sites with what the deal of the day is.

Well one of the sites had these Float-Tech pfd's on sale for $69.99 each and knowing that in the store just a pfd itself can cost that much.

These are more then a pfd. Their automatic/manual, they are a jacket as well with a hood, and the sleeves zip off to make a vest. Also the inflatable pfd comes out of the jacket and you can where it by itself.

They sell online for $229 each so when I saw this for $69 each I jumped on it got 2 of the biggest size they had(I'm no small fry) which was xxl. I've found alot of PFD's seem small in xxl so I was a bit worried it might not fit but could pass up the deal.

Anyways they came today and fit like a glove. I'm so happy I got a great deal :smt038

So just wondering if anyone else has these or seen them, so far I'd recommend them

Cool:thumbsup:

Lets see your demo(Just kidding)
:lol::smt043:lol:

I've got a couple of the vest only inflatables I think I paid like $100 each for. That reminds me I need to get some new CO.

Is the jacket/vest re-usable? In-other words, if it gets inflated, can you deflate it and buy a new CO2 cartriage?

I am thinking this might be a good solution for my kids. I am just concerned that my 7 year old pull the rip cord and inflate it 5 minutes after she puts it on.

There are children's versions of inflatable life jackets:

They will only pull the rip cord once... and they are easily put back together. We practice every year with the rip cords and then repack them so the kids know what to expect (like a *very* cold neck when it inflates).

I poked around on their web site and found this.

Does the Float-Tech® lifejacket come in kids sizes?
Currently the USCG does not have an approval for inflatable only lifejackets for children under the age of 16. However, hybrids of inflatables and buoyant foam devises are available. Float-Tech Inc. currently does not provide an approved or un-approved device for children. However, we are working towards including such a device with our product family.

I will have to look for the Hybrid inflatables that your kids are wearing over the winter.. maybe the NY boat show in January..
