It seems to me that if you are 10 miles off shore and compute your remaining fuel with susch a narrow margin that you need a Floscan, you probably need a Chapman's more than you need electronic instrumentation.
Remember: 1/3 out; 1/3 returning and 1/3 reserve?
And what about the Sea Ray owner's manua where it tells you that you shoulsd only consider 85% of your fuel useable in calm seas, less in heavy seas.
On a 2-300 gallon fuel purchase using the Caterpillar tables, I can estimate useage based on hours run and gph close enough to be within 10-15 gal. If I have 1/3 in reserve and have 400 gallon tankage and 85% useable, why should I need a Floscan to get home?
