hi all. looking for feedback from owners of flir thermal cameras. In process of installing one on my 280da and center of radar arch is taken by radar. so have to go to port side of arch which is not straight just where it starts to curve downward. not a terrible amount but wondering if that slight off level will be annoying on the screen. or should i level it with some plastic washers or something then caulk the gap. thanks

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". You need to install it, review the image on your screen and make your own decision. You are the one that will be looking at it every day, not us. Your non-metallic shim method with a neat caulking job would keep it perpendicular with whatever else you have on the arch and more professional looking. Don't forget to send pics of the finished product.

You can buy a mount that would go behind the radar and up and over it so the FLIR is centered above the radar . Me personally it would bother me if offset.

Getting ready to install a m232. Don't have radar so mine will go in the middle. Have to move the nav light back some. That mount is nice. Its pricey at about half the cost of the camera. I couldn't do the offset thing either. I'm ocd.

You could repurpose a radar wedge, using it sideways to get the camera to sit flat. Might take some cutting/drilling of the wedge, but they're made of starboard, so shouldn't be too difficult.

i agree with adding a Seaview mount. A 290 has that setup a couple slips down and it looks very well designed. You are already in for the cost of Flir, so just add more for a finished look.

wedge may be my best option. I already have holes from previous equioment I removed so as much as i liove the seaview mounts it would leave me with multiple holes

thanks for all the advice
