The flip down tv in the mid cabin has stopped working. Haven't tried using it in a couple of years. The remotes don't work, and I've tried a couple. When I release the screen, it's blank. I do see a row of membrane buttons for tv/video, channel, volume, power, etc, but they don't work. There is a red power light on next to the membrane buttons, so I assume it has power. The kec DVD player looks like it's working. Any ideas on what to try next?

Check to see if you have the proper source selected. That tv doesn't have a digital tuner so it will only work when cable is hooked up or dvd is playing.

This is part of my problem - cannot select "source" using any of the remotes I have, and the membrane buttons don't (or are not meant to) work. Never had an owner's manual and KEC has been out of business for a while. I may have a bad remote and not sure if the "universal" ones will work.

Back on the boat now. Not sure problem is with remote. Have pulled unit off the overhead and there's power going to it. It has the "auto on" button so when the screen is pulled down, it's supposed to come on. However, no nothing. Usually get a screen with static until I select source. Sorta at a loss on what to check next. Any ideas?

Well, after I got this thing loose, I checked the power and other connections that I could, and it made no difference. I sure wouldn't give "points" to whom ever did the original installation - what a "rats nest!" Contemplated just remounting but figured I'd need 4 or 5 arms just to get the wiring in place, plus holding the thing up and reattaching the screws, so decided to relabel the wires that had to be cut, and brought it home with me. Last summer I found a guy that works on old out of date TV's so I may let him take a look at it.
Just in case this thing is FUBAR, What would be a good replacement? and would like to see a picture of install. Also, how did you work (or remove) the shroud?
    Thanks

Just got a call from my electronics repair guy, "The main board is bad, and cannot be repaired", so I'm back to plan "B" - just replacing with another unit. Would sure be interested in hearing what brands/types others have used as replacements. Looks like Amazon, Best Buy, etc have a lot to choose from, and naturally, nothing looks like it will fit the existing shroud.

I would just mount a 12 or 15" flat panel on the cabinet door and trim out the ceiling mount with a upholstery covered blank. Buddy of mine did it and it looked good.

That may work but I'd hate to mount anything to the cabinet door. I did spend a few hours searching the internet for "flip down monitors" and found a few that looked ok, but have not found one that has the RG6 input - they seem to have composite video, RCA, and/or USB inputs. So if I go with these, I've got to find an adapter from the existing RG6 antenna cable to either composite video or RCA, or USB inputs. Have not found anything yet. The quest continues.....

Well, it looks like I'm 0 for 3 on this thing. I did take it to an electronics repair shop in Chattanooga in hopes that it was a bad diode, rectifier, widget, etc, that could be unsoldered and replaced, but got word today that they cannot find the parts to fix it....Realize this is the old analog unit, but only gets used at the dock where we have a satellite dish attached, and not much of that.
So if anyone has upgraded their unit and wants to sell their old one, I would be interested...
