I am seriously considering adding Nu teak or Flexiteak to my 500 Sundancer on the swim platforms as well and the entire cockpit. I have heard and read a little on both products. I can't really get a good quote or even idea what I am looking like on cost.

My bigger concern then cost is quality and durability. We are in Tennessee and the boat is under cover until the weekends and we still aren't dealing with the heat like Florida or other hot coast areas.

I would appreciate any help from experience on research anyone has done,

Thanks in advance
Steve

I have Nuteak and won't have another boat without it. It looks great, people sometimes don't believe me I tell them it not real teak. It gets hot during those hot sunny days, you can't walk barefoot unless its wet. I recommend putting it in all the heads, non slip and looks a lot better.

This is my second boat with Nuteak, I even installed it on my dinghy floor. Cost is roughly $65 sq ft.

I will second this. I have it on the swim platform and the head floor. In areas that take the direct sun (swim platform) it will get very hot though. That is when the shower wash-down come in handy to cool things down. Still I get many compliments on the look!

After two seasons with Flexiteek I remain very pleased with the quality and durability of the product and would install it again. Expect the installed cost to run you between $55 and $75/square foot. My choice of FT over the other reputable products on the market was largely based on my personal preference of its look and feel as there are some subtle and not so subtle differences that appeal to different people in different ways. Each brand, as I'm sure you've seen, touts that their product is the best. In addition to FT and NT, i have some friends with PlasDeck who seem pleased with the product which is at a lower price point (to confuse things further). Whichever product you choose, a quality installation is key.

We have PlasDECK on ours and love it. We receive many compliments on it. It gets hot in the summer for bare feet but that's what flip flops and the transom shower are for:) If you visit :http://www.ttcustommarine.com/ you should be able to get an idea of costs. especially if they have a ready made template for your boat size. You can either lay it yourself (we did, it's not that hard to do) or they have agents that will install it for you. Good luck, am sure you won't regret it, it really does improve the look of the deck.

Thank you everyone. I have over 170 sq' of area to do with my cockpit and swim platforms. At $55.00 per sq' that works out to almost $10,000.00.

I just had all new carpet made for the cockpit and that was only $1,500.00. I just hate that it won't stay clean and shows all the water spots. It was supposed to be some of the best carpet that you can get. I would hate to see the crappy stuff

At the end of the day, whatever product you choose, it does not show dirt (dirty feet) like non-skid and carpet and you do not have to worry about it getting soaked like carpet. That's what i was looking to get away from and it sounds like you're in the same boat, so to speak, so rest assured, you're on the right path.
I personally don't look at it as anything other than an alternative decking surface to non-skid - I'm not trying to fool anyone into thinking it's real teak.

Hi Steve,
We had Plasteak of Ohio http://www.plasteak.com/ do a "teak" swim platform last year. We could not be happier. I just sent them a "brown" paper template. The material is a flexible vinyl and installed perfectly. The company was great to deal with.
Lots of compliments, no complaints so far. Price was right as well.

We ordered Plasdeck for our 260 from TT Custom Marine and it should arrive this week. I've read nothing but good things about the product and Travis is great to work with. He already had templates for the 260 so there was nothing I needed to do. Looking forward to spring so I can install it!
