Subject: BoatUS Alert For Anchoring Workshops
March 9, 2007
Dear BoatUS Member, The state of Florida is hosting a series of public workshops around the state concerning anchoring and mooring. At each workshop, they will explore with local governments, stakeholders, and the boating public, potential solutions to issues surrounding the anchorage of vessels in state waters.
BoatUS attended the initial workshop held on February 13 in Marathon. We joined about 30 boaters and community representatives in a positive discussion about how to make anchoring work better. We hope that the other workshops will provide a similar opportunity, with new insights and ideas brought forward.
You may have experienced some anchoring issues yourself in Florida, or may have read about them in the March issue of the BoatUS Magazine. Now you have a chance to learn more, and let your thoughts be known to state officials including the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FFWCC).
Please check your calendar, and try to attend the workshop closest to you. The anchoring workshops are set for the following dates and times:
Tuesday, March 13, in Tampa:
5:30-7:30 pm, Hillsborough County Co. Center, 2nd floor, 601 East Kennedy Boulevard
Wednesday, March 14, in Ft. Myers:
