I have a 95 model hummingbird fish finder on my boat I would like to buy a new 500 series model and was wonering if I can use the same transducer and existing wires from my current unit or do I need to do a full installation with the new model. Was hoping to save a little time as my boat is kept in a slip.

Typically you would need to check the frequency that the old transducer uses. Check on the Hummingbird site and find out what transducer your old unit supported and see if it will work with the one you want to get.

You will know right away if your old unit worked at 192 kHz and your new one needs a 200 or 50 kHz transducer.

You will most likely need an adapter cable if your old transducer is the correct frequency.

What was your old unit and what one do you want to go to?

Thnx for the reply. I am going out tomorrow and will check the exact model and go from there I will kep this post updated with any info I come across

You also need to check on beams, I have a Matrix 17 the transducer is a dual beam, there are some out that are quad beam. You should bea able to figure this out on the Humminbird site. Link below.

Also in the Humminbird site if you go to support at the top, click on Product Manuals you can pull up the manual in Acrobat reader and verify info on the old unit and the new to compare if you like.
