Anyone have pictures of an add-on unit that you installed?

I was wanting to upgrade to a C80 and have a depth finder integrated into it. But I think for my pocket book a C80 is out of the question. Presently have a Ray Chart 435.

I would also have to replace the GPS antenna to a Raystar 125. if I put in a C80 and I'm not sure I want to go through all of the rewiring etc.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Stan,

To add depth to the C80 you will need a transducer and a Digital Sounder Module if you want to add all of the fish finder water temp data.

In the meantime if you can just want depth you can add a basic transducer and standalone gauge (I used the ST40). That then can be connected to the C80 via SeaTalk in the future. A question to ask would be if you can use a fully tricked out transducer on an ST40, or ST60 display (getting just the depth data). That way when you add the new display you don't have to go through ripping out the transducer and replacing it with fish, depth and temp capability.

Another thought is to think about going to the C90 Wide display. This has built in GPS and charts! To get the same functionality on the c80 you would need to add about $ 500 to the cost of the C80.

Hey Henry how's things going?

Hard to believe that summer is about gone. We have had such weird weather this year. June was blistering hot (August like weather) and August is dipping into the 70's during the day and 60's at night (September/October) weather!!!!! Go figure!

I am contemplating upgrading to a better chart, friend has the C80, but I think it will be cost prohibitive, thus the maybe just adding a stand alone depth/fish finder unit.

ST40 by who?

Thanks.

Summer's been terrible weather wise, past two weekends were ruined by Hurricanes Bill and Danny, actually the weather they kicked up as they passed by in the Atlantic. Temperature wise we are seeing the same thing, its now 50/60s at night mid 70s low 80s during the day.

The ST60 and ST60 are gauges that are made by Raymarine. They are primarily Sailboat gauges but are also used on a lot of powerboats. The ST40 are LCD and the ST60 are color. The ST60 may also provide more support for a more complex transducer. You may have to venture away from Raymarine if you want the full fishfinder sonar display and don't want to add the C80. These by the way are being phased out in favor of the C Wide series, you might keep your eye on Ebay for deals over the winter.
