First Trip with 21p prop

So went to halls crossing, Lake Powell this weekend and had a good load in the boat, with a 14.25x21 prop ran 3900 RPM WOT. Took a while to plane but once it did ran nice, Tho I need to adjust pitch due to low RPM, Helped with Gas tho!!!:smt038

Hey Mate, would like to know what speed you were doing at 3900 rpm? I use a 17 pitch hi five and run about 38 to 40 mph at 4800 rpm. I have a spare 21 that I might repair.

I was right in the area of 30-33 MPH. I had 4 adults,2 teens. And a good chunk of gear!

what was the pitch of the prop you changed?
mine came with a 21p but was overrevving so mm changed to a 23p

Hey tubtoy

Remember ours are the 3.0 lt mercruiser, not the V6.
Sea Ray spec for the 180 with the 3.0 was a 21 pitch, which cannot pull the bark off a dead tree. I use a 4 blade 19 for cruising and achieve around 40 mph at WOT with the family and gear on board. A 21 would be a waste for me.

Yea im going to check into a 17 and 19 pitch soon!
