We took our neighbor, his girlfriend and son out to the San Juan islands yesterday.
45 degrees and perfectly calm water.

Looks like you had a nice trip. Thanks for sharing Todd, only 3+ months until I go on my first trip of 2010.

Good choice in music!

Todd, awesome great pictures and sounds!!!!! Thanks for sharing. I can't believe how calm it was. What was that seal eating?

Thanks. It's a sea otter. He's eating a little crab. There is also a harbor seal the has a missing eye that is always there in Friday Harbor. Her name is Popeye. She's a favorite with the kids.
The otter we've never seen before, but was interesting to watch his move around. He's pretty big too.

Yes the water was really smooth the whole trip. It's about and hour and a half to get to Friday harbor from where we launched, so because of the limited daylight (it's dark at 4:30) we left the launch at 11 and got back around 3:30. It was well worth it though.

Great video!

What are you filming it with?

Do you have the camera mounted when you are cruising or image stabilization software?

I got a Sony Mobile HD Snap Video Camera for my birthday and am hoping to take some videos this season on the boat.

I agree ... total suckage. April cannot get here fast enough. Thanks for making me jealous! :)

It's a JVC HardDisk camera. Its' not high def. I wish it was. Anyway, it works pretty good. I just placed it on the dash with a microfiber towel beneath a roll of blue masking tape I had in my catch all. It just acted as a platform. Nothing was bolted or taped. I guess it just shows how calm it was.

Thanks Todd

I am still playing with this camera.
Thinking of getting one of those tripods that has the movable grip type arms to hang on my bimini frame when underway.

This camera is pretty cool in that it can film in 1020 720 and VGA for uploading to the web.
Also takes still photos in 5M, 3:2, 3M, and again VGA for e-mailing.
Ran about $150 on sale.

Might even take it to the Chicago Boat Show and then post up after that.
Will concentrate on getting some sort of blackmail film of Scott for that one!
Get more rides in his Boston Whaler!

Thanks I like sharing the pics and video for this time of year when it's not that easy to go for a ride. Ya'll can come along vicariously with us. Or when it's pouring like it is today I can watch and go for a virtual ride.
