Here in Decatur, AL we did get to a frosty low of 4 degrees F this winter of 2014, but we usually avg. 42 degrees through the winter. Every now and then a little snow and ice will show up. But 4 degrees will freeze the ducks to the pond. Been doing some cleanup, changed the oil, checked a spark plug for wear, replaced the horn with a stainless Attwood, kinda mellow and not too loud. Thought about air horns but who would want to ride up front with that possibility. Ordered new canvas from Great Lakes Boat Tops with 25% discount sale ending 3/31/14. Great deal since canvas except bimini that came with the boat wasn't in too gooda shape..14 years old so about time. Great savings. Boat is set up with seats for ten with second seating option. Found supplemental owners manual and parts manual on line. Added top vent to trailer cover. The gas tank vents at the gas cap which is covered by the trailer cover so fumes are captured while on the trailer in storage. Adding new cover vent requires 2" hole be made in cover at peak, sandwiches together as rainproof vent with place to insert tent pole underneath. After giving up my old '77 Arrowglass after 28 years of ownership, I have come to the conclusion that even with a bigger boat there are adjustments in the way you go about doing things. With the SR the bimini is stored in place. I don't know yet if the convertible top will store under the deck in the back. The old boat was more in the category of a fisherman's special ready for a little ski time. This SR has finesse, beautiful interior matched in every detail, comfortable ride with no surprises. Should of bought a SR earlier than i did. Considering how time moves, another 28 years and I'll be ready for another boat. That'll put me at four years short of a hundred. And that ain't that far off. Who is the oldest SR operator in the Club? Anybody know? One final thing, I have the lower 215 miles of the Tennessee River to travel to be able to lay claim to having traveled the entire Tennessee River system. There is no badge, but short of the commercial barge captains and their crews i don't think many folks lay can claim that status. Anybody want to go to Paducah? One other final thing, the marine radio antenna mount is fixed. The antenna not only sticks straight up in the air but leans out to the side beyond the rub rail. Where would you attach a folding mount on the boat to make the antenna adjustable and protected within the boat circumference. Signing off.
