Hi all. We bought our 1st Searay last year a 2007 240 sundeck. We loved it and are now in the process of buying a 290 sundancer. We've owed other brands of boats and realy like the Searay brand.

We've participated in a few marine max dive-in movies and a trip down the Tennessee River. We're looking forward to a trip to Bimini with the group. The staff at our local MArine MAx is top notch. They are alot of fun.

We're in Georgia boating on Lake Allatoona. :smt038

Welcome - and before anyone else says it.....Please put your boat info/history in your signature line and put yourself "on the map" at the right:grin:

I'm also considering the 290da. Have you considered the 280da bc many here believe it to be superior to the 290. It all comes down to what you want I guess.

You have a 07 240 so I assume you will be looking at the 07 or 08 290?

I said I was considering this same boat and I am interested in your opinion of it. What do you like/dislike about it?

It helps me make up my mind when I hear other perspectives.

I've seen the posts on his site 280 vs 290. we have spent time on both and we prefer the 290. We prefer the Layout upper and lower on the 290. The upper of the 290 has more free space (seating arrangement) and the lower feels roomier to us and we like the easy conversion of the master bed into a couch. Also we like the access to the lower on the 290. a swinging door located to the port side as apposed to a sliding door in the center on the 280. With the door located to the port side you have access to the upper bow whether the door below is open or not. We have small children that are up and down alot and having to close the doorevery time we want to go up on the bow would be tiresome. We have also fond that the sliding doors found on the280's tend to stick. This was seen on both new and used versions.

I have seen posts in this site that the 290 doesn't sell well. However in the 2 weeks we have been workig on a purchase I have seen 5 sell ahead of 280's.

Welcome to the board. Glad to have another Georgia Boater on the board. You got some water up there in Altoona?

Welcome to the board and congrats on the new boat!

How is the new boat set-up? Gen., twins, single engine, electronics?

We haven't closed it yet. We'll be dong the sea trial later this week. All the goodies, twins, 19" flat screen dvd, chart plotter GPS, Generator, Camper enclosure, bumper holders, windless, Bilge heater, and stocked with my favorite beer courtesy my salesman.

I don't know. The real issue is that the Army corp. was draining the lake to save a muscel down stream and not taking into consideration that they were draining our drinking water during a drought. I hope that this will not occur this year.
