The first pleasure boat of 2011 just went past our house. It's probably 40 degrees and sunny out and still pretty cold to be going 30mph, but the fishmen are a hardy bunch. The USCG has been conducting training runs for about 2 weeks running by our house in their RIB with the enclosed helm. The season has begun.

I'm going to start working on my boat around the 15th weather permitting. I've only got about 7 hours of work to do on the hull---stuff you did in your nice storage building. But, our yard looks great and it's all set to go. The yard service will begin soon and I'll have plenty of time to go boating.

Sheriff is already cruising around on "training missions." He just went by.

I just got off the lake today. Its like glass out there, probably about 30+ fishing boats out right now and you would swear the fish were jumping in the boats.

As far as I can tell you, cold. I was out on a 17' Center Console to check the harbor mouth opening and went for a little cruise, we didn't have the temp sensor on the boat. The good news is New Buffalo is just fine at the harbor mouth and if you stay towards the north break wall coming in the most shallow it got was 7.5' and is mostly 10+. The south side break wall gets down to 4' in some spots but all is well.

Thanks for the harbor entrance report. That's better than last year..

I just put my newly rebuilt 268DA in the water yesterday for a quick shakedown cruise to check for leaks etc. Of course, just as I reached the launch, it starts to snow. I said what the heck, and launched the Sea Ray and did a test run up and down the Saginaw River. By the time I got down the river it was a freaking blizzard and I could'nt see past the bow. The boat had 2" of fresh snow on it by the time I got back to the launch and pulled her out. Just what I get for trying to get some water time in....LOL! Tried to get a pic of it, but my camera had too much snow on it too and it took a chit. Anyway, the boat ran great - no leaks either! Very encouraging. Just need to get about 10 hours on the new engine before trolling.

Uncovered Old Skool on Saturday and had a peek. How does dust get into a sealed boat????
I seen a hornet on the boat cover so I need to start looking for a possible nest. Eveything is completely dry.:smt038 Last year I had moisture and mold issues but his year everything is dry.
