First Night Cruise!!!

Well last night i get a call from one of my friends and he tells me hes in my area, he flew in from jersey and wanted to come see me.. so i was like GREAT!!...

So he comes and sees my boat and is like "lets take it out" im like buddy its 11pm and pith dark and i never dont it before and i heard its dangerous..

So in about 10 mins we are at the Clearwater boat ramp.. lol

So we dropped it in (i already know these waters so thats why i chose to take to this ramp)..

What i have learned... I would like to THANK garmin for my chart plotter cause without it i might have of crashed into a bouey.

And i would like to thank my marine 2 million candles spot light. With out that i would not be able to spot the boueys that my chartplotter found!..

So it was perfect.. launched good.. went from clearwater ramp to brewmaster and turned around than went to clearwater beach and turned around again and got back home at 230 am. Had a blast and found it easy to go out at night when you have a chartplotter and a spot light..

IT went well and i was very happy and had a great time!

We also had our first night cruise last weekend as we joined the hundreds of boats watching or participating in Ocean City, NJ's "Nights in Venice" boat parade.

My wife and my 7 yr old had alot of fun just hanging out and watching the decorated boats go by us. Left at about 9:15 and it was dark. Crock is right - with a GPS and a good light, it is doable. I remember all the posts about protecting your night vision. Most annoying thing was having to follow a 25' fishing boat that had their overhead fishing lights on the entire time, all I remember seeing were 2 white spots until I passed them! Other than trying to hail them, how should I have let the captain know he may want to turn those damn things off?

Shotgun.

and you should have said "...turn those :smt014 off" in your post.

In all seriousness:

1. Hail them (via radio or hailer speaker)
2. Put your spotlight on them (ahh... probably looking for a fight at this point)
3. Pass them

The best part is that there is no humidity on the water at night. I walked out today with 60% humidity and 85* at 7am this morning.

Does your chartplotter have a night viewing backlight mode? I found that helpful on mine.
