Hi all!
Had out first day out on the 290 today. Managed to get to the gas dock, proceeded to put too much gas in (really have to pay more attention to 7lb/gal), and spent the afternoon on the hook. Found my way back (need a GPS) and slipped without a damage. Not sure what the wind on Loudon was today, but it was a great confidence builder-after she was tied up.

I wanted to say thanks for the help I received from everyone on this forum in selecting my cruiser. I've also got some great neighbors who are helping me learn my way around the boat. Late in the season, but better late than never to get on the water.

Thanks again!
Laurence

As I learn every time I go out, 3 years of this stuff and I know nothing compared to what there is to learn. But it is fun to learn! If you really want to add to the challenge trailer that bad boy as well:).

You have a great start, good luck. MM

Learning about your boat and about boating is a big part of what makes boating fun. Just think how boring it would be if it was easy, the same every day, and you could do everything without thinking about it.

Hmmmmm, now that I mention those things boating might be more fun! Just kidding. Each trip gets better as your confidence level builds. Stay with it, use the boat a lot and practice doing things you don't know or aren't real comfortable with.

Thank you both. I look forward to continually learning, and sharing the experiences with my family.

So far, finding things outside the comfort zone hasn't been a search. But Rhys why I wanted a boat!

Yep... It took me 3 1/2 years to figure out how much I still don't know. Lots.

Good luck, Laurence

Mike,
Since my carrier was a few hours late Friday night, my first solo experience was loading on the trailer in the dark. Though I avoided damage then too, I realized quickly that I'm glad I don't have a tow vehicle to tempt me into trying that as a regular occurrence.
If I decided the lake isn't enough territory, I'm sticking to the TN River. My first lock through should be fun....
