I wanted to give a report on our first weekend in our new boat. We went out Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Friday I had a friend who has some boating experience join me, my wife and son. We cruised around on the Alafia river. Stopped on a little island just west of I75 and let my 3-year old son Owen splash around in the water. He LOVES being on the boat, big surprise, I know.
Saturday it was just the guys. Four of us total went back to the river and did some kneeboarding, skiing, and tubing. Docked at this little bar called Dixie's and had a cold one. Good times but I'm still sore.
Had a couple minor issues. Speedo stopped working and had an issue with the engine not cutting off immediately upon turning off ignition. Figured out if we let it idle in neutral for awhile before switching it off it was fine. Found out after the trip about where to check for the speedo sensor getting clogged.
I think my next trip will be Monday (Columbus Day) and I plan to do some fishing, weather permitting. Can't wait!!!
