We're not allowed to have open flames at the dock............

just kidding!

Wow! Scary! Im glad you suffered no damages or injuries!

You need to find a sawmill and turn that into lumber, popular makes some very nice looking wood. You could build some furniture out of those trees. At least you were lucky that nothing but fence was hit.

If no one was around, did they make any noise? :smt021:lol:

that's crazy. Glad they didn't hit anything or anyone. Those should make a couple of billion toothpicks.

He could start with a new fence

:)

Thanks! I was thinking of opening a "Do it Yourself" Firewood shop. Much like going to the woods to cut your own Christmas tree....

I was "told" mills would not take these since they were grown on private property, no telling how many nails might be in there through the years. They dont want to risk an expensive blade.

I thought to collect the Insurance check and fuel the local economy by hiring a dozen day laborers to cut it, split it and stack it :)

One enterprising gentleman even came by and handed me a few cards while we were admiring the storms handiwork.

I think they just run a metal detector across them to check for nails. I was also going to say they make nice wood to work with. We used poplar to build my brothers mantel and cabinets around the tv which was above the fireplace. It turned out really good. Since they hit the fence, your insurance should pay to remove them, or atleat the section on the fence, and also it should pay to replace the damaged section of fence.

Randy:

Among the many magazines I subscribe to is "WoodenBoat". There was a fellow down in Georgia by the name of Robb White who swore by tulip poplar as a boatbuilding material, especially when used with epoxy. Sadly, he recently passed away. I also just got back from a trip to Mystic Seaport in CT recently. One of the challenges they face in building and restoring wooden boats is being able to find sufficiently straight and large stock. Wooden boats may not be your thing, but I bet you could make some boatbuilder very happy with those two bad boys.

Just a thought.........

Cheers,

Bill
