Hi all,

Any recommendations for a non-resident, looking for 2 nights (Fri/Sat) as close to Ocean Beach as possible? This is for this coming weekend, which is not yet "high season". I'm thinking I have a shot at Atlantique, if I get there early on Friday (should be around Noon). Otherwise, maybe Sailors Haven? I have stayed at Flynn's many times but it's crazy how they make you spend money at their restaurant which is very low quality.

Seaview... Best place on earth... It's pricey but worth it

Yes... Download the dockwa app and you can do it right on your phone...

They have a 2 night min on the weekends... They are gonna hit you for $275 a night... Your a 10 min walk to the chaos in ocean beach and then you can escape back to the quite :)

So for my 27' boat, that would be $10 per foot - is that accurate? What is it, a flat rate? That's bananas.

Correct flat rate..

Agreed the rate is bananas, but no where else to dock that is protected on all of fire island... And they know it...

You can go to the Pines... I think they are $175 a night... That's about the only other place a non resident can go...

Pines is a good time if you can handle it... My wife and I go all the time... Makes for an interesting night out to say the least..

We went last year, and agree on all points. Great place, but pricey as hell.....Last year I went with a buddy; he was on the south side, I was on the north closest to the marina opening. Every time the ferry would run(7-8kts in the marina) we'd be rocking, and my friend was fine. Not a big deal, but something to think about.....It is very well protected from the bay.

I have not tried the Pines yet. We are always tethered to the kids, and a night out there with just the wife sounds fun.

Kismet is good too, just no power or water...

@PMC... Pines is a great time.. Go for it.. You won't be disappointed.. Probably has the best resturant on the island there..... You certainly don't feel like your on Long Island and more when your there... It's a very Europe feel..

For a private marina, I'd be happy to pay $275 a night anytime......

Right, but haven't you sized yourself out of this place? The dockmaster touched my anchor as I swung into the slip, you have 18 feet on me :smt101

There are a few slips where I have seen them put a 55...

Not sure if the 58 is too big... There is always flynns if wanna be rocked to sleep

Actually, that blue hulled 55 is the 2005 version of my boat, though I have the hydraulic platform so I am 3 longer than he is. To Paul's point, it would be a VERY tight fit to get my boat into a Seaview slip, but I think it can be done.....

I was referring to a cruiser and a princess out of merrick.. But non the less i think there are 2 slips you can fit into if you want.. And I'm pretty sure you pay the same rate... Holiday time they raise the rates but it's over 40 or under 40.. All the same...

The Pines has some bigger slips for you if you want..

Ahhh, ok. Yeah I think I could get into one of the first two slips. I might have too give the Pines some thought. How well protected is it? And yes, the Seaview rate is the same regardless of size, that's why I'm happy to pay $275/night. Nantucket will be $406/night plus electric in July when we go there, so Seaview is a relative bargain.

Pines is protected as long as you get a slip on the inside... You don't want to be out on the hook.. It gets a little choppy there...

But if your on the inside your good to go...
As you can see it dosent sit on the bay so stays pretty clam in there... Th

Just be open minded and you will have a great time... You wife will love it cause you will be holding her hand the whole time...

oh..And have fun dancing with the boys :)

In all seriousness it is a fantastic place, food is great.. And it's like no place you have ever been before...

new to boating.. last season 1st with boat. me and the wife went over to kismet a few times last year just to spemd the day. what the heck do you get for $275 night? would that be the price for my 21' searay? that's nuts

Seaview is great but after they raised the rates we stopped going. That's a little too much. And we didn't have many choices as the season started the residency rules kicked in. Aw well I'll miss the south shore for the beaches but not the low tides!!!!
