Hi All, its been 5 years since I've been to Greenport (all inside) Thinking of going to Block Island next weekend Aug 4th on on 99' 25 ft Sundancer 5.7 single. 70 gal tank. Plan on leaving early thur to Montaulk picking up Friends in montaulk ( 10 AM train) than final trip to Block on Friday. I assume Ill get gas on the way to Shinnicock. I Will take the outside to Morriches, if seas are not to bad...The tides don't look good for me Low tide at 2:46pm High tide at 9:30 PM at Morriches, Questions. They where starting to Dredge back then... Has it been Dredge? I typical run at 3,000 RPM 22-24 MPH How long should each leg take, Cheapest Gas? Any Recent changes, recommendations?
Thanks all
John

Re: Fire Island Inlet to Montualk to Block - Gas usage - Hours -- any done this recen

This reply maybe a bit late, but I did a run from Block Island to Greenport (via Montauk for a night) then to my home port on the south shore of LI a couple of weeks ago. Me and another boat came through the locks and went out Shinnecock Inlet and came back in Jones Inlet. Last I heard, Moriches is still not dredged and most likely will not be.

The cheapest gas we saw was at Oakland's just inside Shinnecock Inlet. It was $3.20 per gal for 93 octane premium fuel.

I did the run in about 5 hours from Greenport to home dock (Oceanside). Stopped for fuel to top off in Point Lookout. I have fuel numbers at home so I can add them later if you wish, but I have a different boat then you.
