So i know people have posted links about windlass spring and finger kits on here for the Lofrans progress 1 and project 1000 ones . My Quick windlass has a weak finger spring. . Where can i get a new one ?
Thanks in advance

You can't get a new finger. You'll either need to get one custom made, or source one from a salvage yard if possible. Imtra no longer makes/sells them.

You can find the spring on Imtra's website:

If you still have the finger, but the pressure is weak against the rode, the spring is probably broken.
It seems to be just a weak spring . My pressure finger looks intact . I have the manual for the wislass and even the originsl mounting templates in my originsl sea ray owners packet that I got with the boat I'm going to dig it out later today to verify model number

before I switched to chain I had a lot of trouble with the tension finger...I was lucky enough to find all the parts for a rebuild of the finger but the tension was still not enough on the rode to allow smooth operation of the windlass....

one idea I had to increase the tension of the finger was to add an external spring like the one below to the top of the windlass and the finger...it would not be pretty but would likely be effective....I was considering using a drum brake spring since they are strong springs and weather resistant....

good luck...

Thanks for the link . I had phoned imtra and theynhadvdirected men to call quick ? I might try to source a stronger spring that meets the size requirements from a spring manufacturer info can figure out the proper name for this type of spring

So it appears my spring is slightly different with the tails pointing down to the body of the winch housing and up to the bottom of the finger.
Glad I checked it out today the spring seems to be it is just popped free of the little holed i nention above . The post or mandrel is intact . The Allan key head nuts that go on the top of the morning holes are present though 2 were off and 1 loose I reassembled everything minus the Allan key nuts ( I didn't have a large enough key and will do it before I go out again . Now the finger pressure is decent and it keeps the rode in the gypsy. I played out my chain and 20 ft of rode. It comes in nicely .thanks everyone

So my issue is mostly sorted , my spring was just out of place . I think i might fit a brass or nylin busing on the mandrel to reduce the clearance between the mandrel and inner part of the spring to reduce the liklyhood of it getting displaced again .My Chandler has a Lofrans finger kit thats been in a drwer fir years it is not for my windlass though i think its for a progress 1. If anyone needs it let me.know I'll send it to them for cost plus shipping. I am going to endeavor to find a stronger spring that will fit the application to get additional finger pressure just a matter if some research since their are plenty of spring manufacturers I just need to get one that is a heavier gauge wire I think.
