Twin 5.7's with Bravo III stern drives.

Ran like a champ before We pulled it out and trailered it. Then relaunched, and starboard ran hot. (strange, it did'nt really have time to warm up). I caught it immediatly and shut it down.

any detailed instructions on what to check without pulling it back out?

thermostat, impeller, .....?

Aren't there seacocks on the BIII? Maybe one got bumped while it was on the trailer? Check to see if the intake got plugged up. Some of the ramps have a bunch of junk floating where we launch. Just a thought.

Hum, i thought they pulled through the drives... Ill go back over and check tomorrow though.

B3's have raw water cooling pumps and should have seacocks, they are the same pump rebuild kit as my old 5.7's with velvet drives.

which means you probably should rebuild that pump now .

I cant for the life of me remember where that seacock is. Im sure I can find it tomorrow, but for the sake of sleeping tonight, where is it?

Dave,

Even when the raw water pump is working perfectly, BIIIs have a hard time self priming. I went down this path and re-built and then replaced the pump on our boat. Although in the end I put in a through hull and strainer, the issue is that the plumbing between the BIII and the pump leaves a lot to be desired.

Depending on how hot it got will determine if you need to replace the impellers. I would let the boat sit and see how it is tomorrow. If everything is fine, no harm no foul. If it overheats again, it may be time to replace the impellers.
