Hi,

We're another Searay family based out of the UK. Right now we have a 280DA after owning a 240DA and 230OV previously. Ohana is based in Poole which gives us a pretty good cruising ground. Our plan this year is to take the 60mile trip across the English Channel to France. This will be done in company with our friends who own a 260.

She comes out of the water next weekend for her pre-season service, anti foul etc. etc. 6 weeks later she'll be back in and we'll start using her. We can't wait!!

We'll be making the most of it this year as our European Cousins have insisted that our Goverment raise fuel duty for marine use. This is likely to come into effect at the back end of this year. This will mean a 100% increase in the cost of fuel.

I'll be in Nashville in a couple of weeks on business. Any recommendations on marine stores in the local area? The last time I flew in I noticed a lot of marinas etc. just before Nashville.

Also, if I get time I'm going to try to get to Knoxville to visit the Searay plant. Is there a factory tour available?

Ian.

Welcome to the board Ian. Glad to have you here.

100 Percent increase in the fuel surcharge is just down right mean. Those green party folks are really trying to keep all but the super rich off the water or nothing but kayak's and row boats. Heck, we might as well step back 500 years and start carving out Viking crusader boats. :smt043

I have been in the English Channel before, it is not for the faint of heart. Have a safe trip this summer.

Welcome to the club Ian.

Fuel costs were one of the few things I really hated in England....now a 100 percent increase. Would make me want to find new cousins :smt001
