Finally a Forum for Sea Ray

No kidding! I think this is great. I have searched high and low for a Sea Ray forum. Is this one new? I'll keep me eye on it.

Glad you guys like it. I have always wondered why there was never a Sea Ray forum, and I'm glad we are in the position to provide it. Now - this site is accessed by hundreds and sometimes thousands of unique visitors a day (not just hits but actual visitors). So people, don't be shy. The only way a forum is useful is if everybody participates. Even if it is to just say Hi. Thanks again, I look forward to hearing from everybody!

new to sea ray

Hello.

Just checking out the forum for Sea Ray owners.

We are set to purchase our first new boat (2004 215 Weekender) this week.

Glad to see owners are pleased with the product.

We are still in negotiations for final price and options ... any advise? Anything we need to know or be sure we include?

Thanks

After you negotiate your best price try to get some freebies thrown in. Any good dealer will include these anyway...things like lines, fenders, coast guard kit, horn, etc. Some other ideas include a Sea Tow membership, free winter storage, or a free option. As soon as you take the boat off the lot it is going to depreciate like crazy so get everything you can now! Especially considering your boat is now considered a leftover since '05's are out. You should shoot for a sizeable discount.

Is this the only sea ray forum around? I have been looking forever. It will catch on, I know I will do my part.

its a good thing

finally a place for sea ray owners with questions and comments, hope it cathes on.

Only a few months old. I think it was started in July or August. Welcome aboard!

You should be able to get 20% off retail ... this is usually the "boat show" discount unless the model is in high demand ... it is usually easy to get to this discount level boat show or not.

Consider yourself lucky or a good negotiator if you can get 25 - 30% off retail. This will only happen if the factory subsidises the purchase heavily and wants to help the dealer move the boat or if the dealer is really desperate. 30% off retail is usually the initial invoice price to the dealer for boats in this category.

We bought our first cruiser a new 2004 Four Winns 248 Vista in late 2004 for 32% off retail. The boat was built in late 2003 and the factory and dealer really wanted to move it.

He Alex,

The guy didn't thank you for you advice??!! haha
Probably he knows now that he did a bad deal 2 years ago.

Just fun.

Peter
