The Odyssey is finally in a proper condition to do a Bahamas trip. She has been in the yard for a number of maintenance items for almost 2 weeks. We are planning a trip to Double Breasted Cay on Sept 12 for 4-5 days. We plan to stay on the hook at this gorgeous pristine spot in the northern Abaco chain. She'll splash later this week.

If anyone is interested, you are welcome to join us. Grand Cay is about 5 miles from Double Breasted and has a marina with fuel and restaurant.

Randy, I'll be in the Abacos in this time frame. If we are near DB we'll stop in. I love Double Breasted Cay, it the perfect paradise in my opinion. Fishing and reef is good, sand beach, and anchorage is great. Rosies is close enough to go to supper. Nice

We are running to the hub this year so not sure where we will be though. Have a great trip. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year!

We are running to Alans, Green Turtle and on to Guana via West End for a couple of days on the 15th. Are you going east from DB?

Randy,
Since I know I can't make it as my boat is still on land after the haul out in mid June for repairs, I would like to join you via your pics and write up. Hope that is ok with you. LOL.
Have a great trip!

Hey Randy! I'm typing this message from Grand Cay right now (albiet not on eSea Street - here with some friends on a fishing boat). Weather is perfect here right now. Looks like our timing is off a little. I'm thinking about a Bimini or West End trip two weeks after yours (Sept 22). If I hadn't just come here, I'd surely join you! Let me know about your NEXT one!

Please do! By the way, Customs is operating out of Grand Cay (the government building on the West end if the island) and NOT Walkers at the moment. No time table as to WHEN they will be back at Walkers - they are rebuilding on Walkers right now.

Joel, that's good information. Customs at West End is always full house when I get there. I wonder if can I refuel at West End, but wait to clear at Grand Cay?

If you stop at West End for fuel you should clear there. It has always been check in at first available port but the definition of first available port has never been defined. When go we usually check in at Green Turtle as that is our first stop and never have a problem. I have heard of other (no direct issues) that if you stop at anchor you should have already checked in someplace as well. I also know some have been arrested for fishing before checking in as well.

I'll look into it. As I understand it, as long as you don't go ashore, I'll be ok. But, by the definition I'll be ashore to fuel so.......
I guess I'll call them and ask their policy.

I'll probably just clear at West End to avoid confusion.

Man that's some great news, Hope all of you have a wonderful trip, I wish I had the time to get ready......... take tons of pics.

Jonathan
