Fighting the disease

My BMW had the Goodyear run flats as well. I replaced them last week with Cooper tires and it's like a completely different car. 100X quieter and more smooth ride.

Are Eagle ST run flats ???
I don't mind Eagles but If you guys think there's better then tell me.

I believe they are. Run flats are great for the obvious reason. However, they are a very noisy and very rough ride. Really happy with the change in ride quality since I switched last week.

Does it have a spare in the trunk? I thought eliminating the spare caused the use of the run flats.

I did a ton of tire research before purchasing the F1's for our X5. Not all Eagle's are run flats.... most Goodyear models have a variety of styles within the model such as sport, touring, all season, etc and most have a run flat option. The Goodyear run flat models end in ROF for run on flat. There are Eagle run flat and non-run flats and sport editions, all season, etc.

I went with the F1 All Season Asymmetric and they great.... they do not have the rough ride and they are quiet, they perform on dry pavement and they hug the road in snow and ice. In fact, our X5 now handles better in snow than our Tahoe.

You are correct, most BMW's do not have a spare but the non-flats are repairable whereas the run flats are not repairable. Plus, you save so much money with the non-run flats that you can get a get a AAA membership and still save money.

So it turns out, here in the US, BMW does fit the 7 series with Goodyear Eagle run flats. Guess that is what you get.....

Shaun, I've had a better experience with run flats than perhaps you have had. I have an X5 that came with all season Michelin RF's and I've recently replaced them with the same tire at 40k miles. I have no complaints with the ride or tire noise. They are absurdly expensive, around $1,700 for 4 but then no one buys a German car to save money.
It's a small thing, but I've learned to really appreciate the additional storage that the empty spare tire area provides. Moreover, it's hidden, accessible from the interior and is a great place to store expensive items in the car if you're on the road and stopping at a hotel and don't want to make another couple of trips to bring everything into the room. I won't leave anything in a car that is visible, too much of a temptation for the smash and grab crowd.

Well here's the skinny , 27 month lease $1400.00 a month with a $59,000 dollar residual value 39 month lease $1293.00 a month with a $54,000 residual . Again with 15,000 mile per year. The residual values are way to high to lease and buy at end of lease . I'm still doing some thinking about the purchase , I may just buy it out right, I burn through miles even if this were a secondary car and buying more miles is just stupid.

Personally, if you drive that much, I'd search and buy a demo or one year old one certified and save some of the depreciation and get a longer warranty.

Are you shopping the dealer in Grand Blanc? I see they have two Imperial Blue 750s. Albeit a much higher than the $87k you mentioned.

Maybe you should just get one of these? This parked on a crappy street in Oakland yesterday next to my office. McLaren 625C

Yeah nick I've got them down to 87,900 on them , but just haven't pulled the trigger , I may wait until spring time , and about 20,000 miles too save a lot of money , unless I get a bug up my butt to buy new

That's a huge discount on either of those cars. If I was in the market for one, I'd buy it instead of leasing, because they are taking a good chunk of depreciation there.

I'll be in Farmington Hills Wednesday night because I have a meeting with a vendor Thursday. If I had free time, I'd try to meet you for dinner. Redwood steakhouse has a great red ale I miss.
