Fender holders

Yep, not a soldering iron though, big ass miller welder set up for stainless and aluminum

Thats the best looking set of holders I've seen. Somebody's a dang good fabricator. Thanks for the pictures.

I could not find anything that looked good and was tough enough for our conditions. I saw a similar set up on a neptunus at the Ft. Lauderdale show (they were welded into the bowrail) and started working up a set. I have made some for some friends and a saleman at MM. I also fab'd up a hinge for my radar tower, gained 20" of clearance to get into a boathouse and some other little stuff

VERY NICE! Best I've seen too! I love to do steel fab work myself. I was just rebuilding my flatbed on my Dodge dually today - gettin' ready to pull the 290 DA. I've never done any TIG work tho', which is what I'm assuming you did there.

That was tig. I also do work on my trailers, tractors and whatever else comes my way. Custom home builder by trade, but enjoy the shop work. My job during summers in high school was building satellite dish's. The real ones that moved and took up your whole yard, learned to weld and fab there. We rarely used plans, just took some measurements at the site location and built a dish to fit.

I took mine off my sundancer...same prob as the rest of the
crew....visibility issue

If the home building business is slow, you could sell those fender holders! Seriously.

I have a set on my Bayliner that are right at the front and they took some getting use to, after 5 years of owning the boat I don't even think about them while driving the boat. Here is a picture they do block my view and most will not like the location. They were located there when I bought the boat and I just left them there.

Here is a picture of my bumper/fender holders on my 300da they don't interfer with my vision in any way.

they are made out of 1" stainless and mounted to the bowrail using a stainless clamp designed for bimini's. Works great for us.

Sweet. How much for a pair of those!!!!!! The admiral would let me put something that looks that good on the boat!

I charge 1350.00 for the pair, (materials are 2/3 of that btw) thats why there are only a few pairs inexistance. But they do work well and will last.

Mark - your's look to be on the outside of the railing, do you ever get them snagged on pilings?

They are cut into the middle so it's split 1/2 and 1/2 and no they don't extend out past the rub rail so I have never snagged them on anything....

Holy crap- I didn't notice that at first- is that a drive-in boathouse??!!

Details please! She looks to be tied pretty tightly- is that a tidal area?

Sorry for the delay... The boathouse is kept on Puget Sound and we get 10-20 foot tidal swings. I am on tributary so it is well protected from wind and wave, but I'm still working on getting that tidal thing under control.....

What do you think about the swim platform storage option? Also where might I find an item like this?

I also did not like the reduced visibility of my rail mounted holders. Here is my solution for ease of deployment and out of sight range. I put a carabiner on the bottom end of the fender rope. I then fastened a small loop of rope to the bow rail to clip it to. When I need to deploy I just unclip the carabiner and the fender swings into place. I just grab the fender from the opposite side and use it for the stern end prior to rafting up or docking.

I installed the stainless West Marine fender holders to the rail on my new 350 and given where I had to place them, I found visability severly restricted and had them removed.

I now store the 4 10x26 fenders under the stairs in the cabin, 2 on top of 2 held in place by a bungee cord. With black covers on the fenders, they look fine. Wish there was a better answer.
