We went through rain, wind and hail to get here, but we made it to Baltimore Inner Harbor!
We have had a great cruise so far. From CT we stopped in Port Washington, NY for the first night. Early Sunday morning we cruised through NY harbor and down the NJ coast. While in NY harbor we were watching the new AIS receiver and at one point we had 137 targets tracked from up to 59 miles away!
As we passed we tried to hail One Sweet Day on the VHF, but no luck. We made it to Cape May be early afternoon and had a nice couple of days.
Today we made the passage to Baltimore with ideal conditions until we hit the inner harbor. There was significant lightening followed by torrential rain and hail the size of a quarter. The wind was clocked at up to 60 knots. We stood off until the weather subsided and came out of it unscathed. A church in the city was struck by lightening and was burning while we docked at the Inner Harbor Marina.
The marina is very nice, but empty. I am sitting here looking at 2 empty slips to port and 14 empty slips to starboard. We are about to head to Little Italy for dinner and will spend the next few days enjoying all that Baltimore has to offer.
Our crew heads home tomorrow afternoon, so it will be just 2 of us rattling around on this boat for the next week, until more friends join us for the trip home.
I hope you are all having as good a time as we are aboard Sea Gull II.
