Question for some folks here regarding boat transport. My boat was pulled for some work about 6 weeks ago. Originally the yard was supposed to use one of their trailers and transport was quoted at $279. Essentially it was included in the work price from what I gathered. When they showed up to pick up the boat, I realized they had no clue how big my boat was because their trailer was too small (OAL - 39') . They made some calls and subbed the work to a transporter who kept his rig at my marina. I received the bill which they claim the costs were passed directly into me. I belive the costs were about $1725 roundtrip. The mileage from the ramp to the yard was 3.4 miles one way. The mileage from where the rig was located to the marina was 16 miles one way. Total mileage will be under 70 miles assuming he goes out there and back two times to retrieve and launch on separate days. In addition they charged me for removing my radar unit because there were height restrictions they had to maneuver around.... however, I know of none that they had to watch out for. Putting that piece aside, does that pricing seem excessive??

Going rate for a one day move here on the Gulf Coast is $15-$20 /mile + labor @$75-$100/hour for removing radar, seating, canvas, etc. so your guys is in the ball park.

Yup - sounds like a lot to me, but what can you do about it now? - my 33LOA (10.5' beam) boat ships 1400mi to FLA for $2500 - I once got a quote to ship from Ft Lauderdale to Ft Myers (140 miles) and it was $500
