F1

NASCAR Cup races need to change; it seems anymore if you don't get collected up in a wreck you win.... They need to change the aero and dirty it up behind the cars. Actually, they need to change many of the rules - too much like IROC anymore. Plus then need to race in the rain on the road courses like everyone else.

Just came back from watching the NASCAR race last weekend in COTA. Rode down there on whim really. Unfortunately I knew zero about the drivers, stories, who's chasing who, etc. so while it was entertaining I'm sure I won't go again next year. And I really don't get the whole 3 stage thing.

Nascar new gen cars cleaned up the air behind the cars so they can actually pass each other. Racing in the rain? Do you not see wipers on the cars? Of course they race in the rain on road courses. Last year's COTA race was in the rain but had to be called early because the track was flooding.

I didn't know they now do rain - very cool!
They didn't do enough on the air it appears (at least in my opinion) based upon the inter-team racing.

Where did you sit? When we're down for the F1, we're usually at turn 11.

It was a pretty good race, but the yellows at the end took forever. What was it - 18 laps to go and it was another hour?

The 3 stages I believe are to keep things moving so the drivers race for points, trying to win each stage. I'm mixed on it. However, unlike F1, NASCAR has some pretty solid rules.

In regards to F1 rules, the part I don't get is why you can work on your car during a red flag? If you damaged your car during the race or a yellow, you would have to pit and would lose that time. I think its dumb during a red flag you can basic rebuild your car. Also, I dislike the safety cars or virtual safety car from yellow to green. Correct me if I'm wrong, when it goes green, the lead car chooses when to start anywhere on the track. A starting zone or zones would be nice, or within a few seconds of it turning green to not stack up the field and get a jump.

Not sure what impact it has on ovals, but stage racing in Nascar should be eliminated on road courses - artificially jacks the field around.
The guy that wins the stage will most likely be mid pack when the next stage starts.
Almost as bad as 'Fan boost' in Formula E.

I am glad to see F1 coming to Las Vegas. I have never been to Vegas and really have no desire to go there for gambling or shows, generally I think Las Vegas represents one of the three pillars of the demise of our society, behind the Internet and Hollywood. If anything attracted me to Las Vegas, it would be going there to watch a Grand Prix street race for sure.

Ditto. My buddy that I go to Austin with pinged me about Vegas yesterday. Even for the race, I really have no desire to go there. Same for Miami. Don't get me wrong, I think street racing is great, we've frequented the(formerly Toyota) Grand Prix of Long Beach many times.

I still like Vegas for the most part, love me some roulette, so I could see going out there for it. Weather is pretty good that time of the year too

With a bunch of buddies We went to a number of strip joints one night …. In the morning I realized I left my jacket in one…. So the next night we back tracked to every strip joint…. Damn we had a lot of fun…. Never found the jacket though

I reckon they are racing in Richmond this weekend? I can hear the cars circling the track right now, I live about 2 miles from the track.

Guess I'll crack me open a Budweiser, kick back on my lazy boy and turn the tube on.

All jokes aside, I was a big Nascar fan until Special K, the Polish Prince died.

It was a great race and seems Iike the start of an interesting season.

I skimmed the thread but has it been mentioned or noticed that despite a long time ban on tobacco advertising that Vuse, a vape company is sponsoring a major team?

Australian GP, Acura GP of Long Beach, Martinsville, and the Masters this weekend. I'm in trouble Saturday evening -Sunday.

Todays Miami race should be interesting. Some nice boats parked in a fake ocean trackside.

Yeah the fake marina is goofy. But the race should be fantastic. As a Max fanboy I can see a suspenseful duel with Charles.

Not sure the Ferrari's have the top end but we’ll see. Saints is in a good position to protect Chuck.
