Wow, 25 hours a year on the engines and 250 hours a year on the genny. I'd love to hear the story on that. Liveaboard life on a hook one year?

When I purchased boat in 2018 there was 290 hours on the engines and 1200 on genset. We use the heck out of the boat, obviously more so the genset. The original owner had retired when he had purchased it and ended up in Florida with his own business and always meant to use it more But never did,he had thoughts for years to bring it to Florida but never did.
He paid CAT to come out and service every year ( needing it or not) and had a neighbor start it and run it every month for a short bit. It’s like a time
Capsule! That’s why we couldn’t pass it up. Some items like bow pads, blender, aft canvas were never even removed from packaging until We purchased it.

Hey guys, just wanted to vouch for Mike Z and this boat. I've known this boat for a long time and helped Mike buy it a couple years ago. It is in awesome condition. This boat is clean, all the systems work and Mike owns a marine service company so engines, genset and equipment are clean and well maintained. Move this freshwater boat to the coast and she will outshine the others out there. Transport can be arranged as well.

Interested in boat with question regarding transport to coast (Charleston/Savannah). #cocktailtime Can you get a quote to derig/rerig and transport? Thanks!

Aslo, Cat 3116 TA's have quite a bit of HISTORY :( . Anyone care to share personal history with them?

CAT 3116 TA's had two things both of which are now moot points as Cat warrantied them and fixed or replaced engines. The first was an issue with soft blocks from a foundry in France. The other was an issue with valves manufactured by TRW. I believe both issues would show up prior to 250 hours (Frank Webster can correct me and add details). CAT discontinued the warranty work back around 2005 as the issues had worked through the system. Various forums beat these issues to death and their are literally thousands of these engines in the field running equipment daily.

I have the 3116 TA's in my 400DB and they are great, relatively bulletproof engines if you maintain them. At cruise power (2,400 RPMS) each engine will burn 11.6 GPH and simply loaf along forever. They are fully mechanical so no advanced electronics to fail. Mine have ~950 hours and the next major service work would be the 2,000 hour adjustment.

As for shipping you may need to have the bridge and or arch removed as the keel to the top of the arch is 15' 7" (Not counting the radar pedestal or anchor light).

Thank you for your insights! I too love the 3116TA (350hp) , cat ran serial numbers for me to ensure they were not the problematic engines. They purr along no smoke smooth! And maintained by cat from day one!

Who can provide their personal experience with transporting a 400??

I moved a 2007 44DB from Pensacola Bch, FL to Lake Lanier, GA. Total of about $10k. Just sold it and moved to Nashville, TN for $10k again.
