We recently purchased a Sedan Bridge 52 from Lewisville, Texas, and had it trucked to Seattle. It was quite a process, since there is only 1 travel lift in Lake Lewisville, and it was "offline", and the fly bridge had to be removed for transport. We used Russel Marine Transport, and I have to say they did an amazing job. They handled the entire process -- loading, disassembly, transportation, and re-assembly -- and they found a company that was able to "wet load" the boat out of the lake. Super responsive, detailed communications, and they worked hard to make sure everything was working, and have followed up several times since delivery to make sure we are satisfied.

I didn't realize what was involved in transporting a boat, from all the state transportation permits and regulations, to the details of labeling every wire.

I trailered a 26' Sea Ray from Houston to the Seattle area and thought that was a big deal! I'm glad it went so well for you! It's a huge undertaking!

Great to see you got the boat home. We also had a great experience moving our 47 Sedan from Austin Texas to Bayport, MN.

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

I'm curious what the move from TX to Seattle cost, all in. Care to share?

How did they "wet load" the boat out of the lake? There is only one travel lift on our lake. If it ever went down there would be a lot big boats stuck in the water.

We had our 420DA wet loaded and launched by a company from TN, picked up at Lake Alatoona in GA and delivered to Smith Mountain Lake, VA. Not many companies will do it, they just back down a boat ramp.

A giant trailer & truck. I wasn't there, but Paul from Russell Marine sent the photo to me. IMG_3276.JPG

Hey Congrats!! Great pictures.
Last year I had also bought a new boat which was shipped from New York to California by We Will Transport It services. It was a safe and secure process and the boat transporters had really done a great job. I think they are one of the best boat transport company I had ever meet, on recommendation of my friend and they had offered a great service to my boat transportation needs.

I just bought a 1977 240 SDA with double axle trailer and have to transport it to the lake which is about 20 miles away. The concern I have is I have a 1994 f150 extended 4x4 ford pickup that has a 5900lb towing rating and I'm not sure it will be able to handle the tow without the trailer taking over. The trailer has brakes that I just rebuilt and all new bearings. Has anyone else out there towed in this situation? The person I bought it from hauled it with a newer model 1500 1/2 Chevy truck didn't indicate he ever had a problem and he brought it to my house. This is the biggest boat I have ever owned. My other boat is a 18ft bayliner cutty with a Yam Outboard and I hauled it from Homer,Alaska to Las Vegas,Nevada.

Any idea how much the boat and trailer weighs?

I would guesstimate 5500-6000lbs.

If that is correct, with a proper tongue weight and your functioning brakes, I think you'll be fine.

Keep the speed in check, and enjoy.

I think your cutting it close with a F150 My SD240 is 5600 lbs plus the trailer 2000 lbs
I have a Ram 2500 Diesel and it tows the boat and trailer like butter.
Be careful that might be ok but if there is an accident and they find you at fault for not having the correct towing power your insurance company can deny the claim/coverage

I hauled my Rinker 270 regularly 20 miles to the lake with my 04 GMC 2500 HD 2WD. I would not want to have done it with anything smaller. It was always edgy pulling it out of the water up the ramp. First time I had to be towed out with a Ford F-250!!!

Thanks for all your replies I will take them all into consideration. I know that bringing the boat out of the water even my smaller one requires using four wheel drive because the ramp being slick. I will give it shot one time and see how it goes. I will keep my speed down and have a tow rope handy just encase I have problems on the ramp.

Congrat's on the new boat ! I bought my 1st SeaRay out of Carillon Point Marina and our present came up I-5 from Huntington Beach CA.
