Exotic Car

I say go with the Porsche. Service is much more affordable. Compared to a Ferrari or a Lamborghini . If you do go with a Porsche let me know if I can help you with anything. I am a gold mister Porsche tech with 15 years at the dealership .

I reiterate my post. Buy a Porsche if you've never owned an exotic. Just don't buy a GT2, Carrera GT, or 918 unless you have extensive track experience. A 997/991 GT3 is an amazing car, but the Turbo is wild too with AWD. I built a 996 Turbo S cab for a friend and on the drags trip, it would walk liter bikes putting you so far back in the seat that you couldn't reach the shifter. It had the full Evolution Motorsports catalog(GT800).

Hmmmm......ever feel like you're talking to a wall? OP posts a question 2 days ago, gets tons of feedback and questions but never responds.

But, hey, it's always fun talking cars anyway. As you were..........

Congratulations on the ability to be in that predicament!

The closest I got to an exotic car was a 3000GT VR4. It was a dang rocket ship and was very reasonable in price. I sold it after 2 years though since it was a pain to get into and out of as a daily driver.

I'm still a sucker for the Acura NSX.

A buddy of mine has an early NSX....the new ones are stupid cool

M3. Not exotic but its a great track car and reasonable to maintain.

Aaawwwww c'mon - the OP got lots of help at the beginning - then we started having fun :smt021

Seriously - Porches are a great deal of fun, there are lots of exotics in their collection of models, and if it matters to you l would look for an appreciating model.

My b-in-law had a Merc McLaren for a while - liked it for six months but got bored with it, never had that problem with the speedster and now going on for 10 years.

Sorry for the late response, I get very little free time between work and everything else! I haven't had time to test drive any Porsches. The 911 has always stood out to me so I might go take a look at the Carrera S Cabriolet. Funny that one of you mentioned the GTR. I always was fond of the twin turbo set up! Although the power is there, the fit and finish doesn't compare to other luxury cars in my opinion when you are spending nearly six figures. I think I have talked myself off the Ferrari ledge due to. The fact I can get something that will still scream down the road for 70k less. A neighbor has a Masarati and speaks highly of it so I might go test drive the Granturismo. I will probably go test drive them later next week when I have some time off so I will let you know what I think after the test drives.

Viper if you like brutal power...or a Challenger Hellcat
not really exotic but a helluva lot of fun and reasonable to maintain

Jaguar f type R. Aston Martin DB9 or vantage, Morgan plus 8, Ford GT, Audio R8 V10, all worth a look.

For what it is worth...
I've been working on and off at Chrysler Chelsea proving grounds for the last few years and Vipers are starting to grow on me.
At the last job we were visited by a guy with a new Corvette Stingray - All I can say is looking at this thing affected me. Although in the past vetts did nothing for me but the new Stingray - wow.

In the past, I worked a lot (and actually drove a little) SCCA. and the showroom stock Porsche's seemed to always be bullet proof but aesthetically never did anything for me.

Wife has an Audi S5 - Not a super car but driving the thing :)wow:)makes ya wonder how much fun an R8 would be!

For my money (God I wish I had enough to do this) I would be in something Italian. Something Ferrari-ish.
Aston Martin (DB9 or S) I find really beautiful as well but I fear that there may still be Lucas Electric parts in them.

For those that might be unfamiliar with Lucas Electric there are 2 jokes I remember:

Why do the British have Lucas refrigerators? - Because the British like warm beer.
Have you heard about the new Lucas Electric three position switch? - Dim, flicker and off.

Loved my 2002 Z06 Corvette. The fastest car I ever owned.

Not everyone loves the look of a Porsche 911, but after driving it, many change their view. I love both the look and the way it handles. The other pluses of owning a 911 is it is very dependable, especially compared to many exotic cars and it can literally be a daily driver car if you don't mind racking up the miles on it. I drive mine all year rain or shine. Once the streets are sanded and salted, I tend to leave it in the garage until a good rain.

Go test drive a Porsche 911 S or 4S and you won't be sorry.

Sal A - sweet looking Cab - Is that a wrap or paint?

As eccentric as usual...that's me yesterday after a blast around the hills surrounding Rome!
